SMART SCHOOL COUNCIL 2026
At St Peter's, we are part of an exciting project called Smart School Councils where the key ethos is that every child has a voice and any idea is worth sharing. This year we are continuing our work to develop St Peter’s further! School council meetings are held in every classroom which means every child’s voice is heard. Even if children aren’t on the Communication Team, they still have the opportunity to make a difference.
We are very excited to introduce you to our new communication team this year! We had a wonderful first meeting where we outlined some new projects for this academic year based off what the children in our school said!
"We are members of St. Peter's School Council. We were elected to represent the views of the children in each of our classes. We work with Miss Brough and other members of staff. We share our opinions on any decisions that are made that affect us and we think of ways to make our school an even better place to be."

SMART PROJECTS FOR THIS ACADEMIC YEAR
To begin the year, we have been in each class and asked the children how they believe we could improve St Peter's. We have listened to all their ideas and voted through our portal. We have selected the three with the most votes to focus on this year.
HERE ARE OUR FOCUS PROJECTS FOR THIS YEAR:
-More Culture Days - tying in with our Wellbeing Days, we will continue to have a Feel Good Friday every term.
-More time in the local area - We have decided that during the Summer months, we will create a timetable for each class to visit our local park weekly.
-School Pet - we are looking into expanding our St Peter's family!
UPDATES - SPRING 2
HERE ARE OUR PROJECTS CARRIED OUT THIS HALF TERM:
Our Feel Good Friday this half term was based on our ALL AROUND THE WORLD DAY theme. Each class represented and learnt about a different country (voted by them) and its culture and traditions. We all had a wonderful dance workshop to represent different countries such as Irish dancing, Afrobeats, Bhangra dancing and Brazillian Carnvial. The children also voted for their lunch for the day in which they chose; Irish Breakfast, Jerk Chicken, Italian Pasta & Curry! For desert we had cupcakes which were decorated with flags created by the children and biscuits with flag icing. We thank our wonderful kitchen staff for helping us with this day :) Classes had a day off timetable and took part in some great activities such as:
-Creating the Eiffel Tower with marshmallows and taking part in the Tour de France.
-Creating leprechauns and Irish Trinity Knots.
-Creating Mexican axolotls and learnt about The Day of the Dead!
-Anime Drawing and Japanese Garden Bookmarks.
-Making pizzas and performing stories through opera.
