SMART SCHOOL COUNCIL 2024
Last year, we joined an exciting project called Smart School Councils where the key ethos is that every child has a voice and any idea is worth sharing. This year we are continuing our work to develop St Peter’s further! School council meetings are held in every classroom which means every child’s voice is heard. Even if children aren’t on the Communication Team, they still have the opportunity to make a difference.
We are very excited to introduce you to our new communication team this year! We had a wonderful first meeting where we outlined some new projects for this academic year based off what the children in our school said!
"We are members of St. Peter's School Council. We were elected to represent the views of the children in each of our classes. We work with Miss Brough and other members of staff. We share our opinions on any decisions that are made that affect us and we think of ways to make our school an even better place to be."

SMART PROJECTS FOR THIS ACADEMIC YEAR
You can see below our school display board which shows the whole school what our current projects are, how the progress is coming along, which staff members are helping us achieve these and also what actions are being taken!
HERE ARE OUR FOCUS PROJECTS FOR THIS YEAR:
-Organise a whole school wellbeing day once a term!
-Look into more opportunities for lessons to learn musical instruments.
-Arrange more activities at lunchtime.
-Begin to fundraise for an enclosed outside area on the playground.
OUR APPLICATIONS
This year, we made posters to apply for our communication roles on the Smart School Council. We outlined reasons why we think we would be good at the job and ways in which we would like to improve our school. You can see some of our posters below!
UPDATES
In September, we met with the school improvement officer to talk about our roles and what we do. Mrs Field wrote us a letter to thank us for helping her get to know our school better and she sent us a poster of what we had shared. What a great experience for us as a new communication team to meet our SIO and deliver our ideas to her! Thank you for your support and feedback Mrs Field!
SPRING TERM
This term, we have been focusing on our targets to enhance our outside area! We are holding our half termly wellbeing day on Friday 11th April and this time our theme is CRAZY HAIR DAY! The children have planned for the school to come in their own clothes, have crazy hair, prepared an Easter Egg hunt and much more in order to raise funds for our new enclosed areas. We are hoping to buy some sheltered huts that we can then use to create areas for lego, reading, quiet time, role play etc and much more! We are asking for £1 donation to help us to raise money and will also be selling pancakes and crepes for 50p on the day! There will also be a prize for the CRAZIEST hair in each class!
The children WOW’D us with their creativity! You can see below their amazing hair styles!
AUTUMN TERM
This term, we have been working really hard to reach some of our targets on our board! Our first action was to implement more Wellbeing Days! Last year, we had 1 Feel Good Friday Wellbeing Day but this year we have agreed with Mrs Clinch to have ONE EACH TERM! So, on Friday 29th November, we had our first FGF of the year! The whole school voted and expressed their ideas for things they would like to happen on the day! They agreed comfy clothes, baking, movie time, street dancing and much more! The teachers also planned some fabulous activities for the children such as circus skills, orienteering, quiz games, arts and crafts and origami! We also had some volunteers in school who helped with the day! A BIG thank you to all who helped make it such a fabulous day! You can see some pictures below! You can also see the Smart School Council members posters which advertised the day to the children!
