Our chaplains visited the Laudato Si centre at Wardley hall for a training day.
We talked about what makes a good team and then we went foraging and collected natural materials to make a group picture. We had to collaborate and listen to each others ideas.
We then took it in turns to light a fire. This was quite difficult and we had to persevere and help each other. We finished the morning by toasting marshmallows.
After lunch we took part in a celebration of the Word and then we began to create our own to use back in school.
We had a fantastic day and learned lots of new skills.
We had a fabulous time at the Spiritan centre today with our Year 5 chaplains. The staff there were so welcoming and enthusiastic. We learned so much about how to be a good chaplain and we are enthusiastic to continue the good work we have been doing.
We will definately be working with the team again.
Growing in Faith Together
Four of our chaplains attended a "Growing in faith together" celebration day. They went to St Mary's church, Bamber bridge with chaplains from around the diocese. They created a banner to show the work they have been doing in school and went along to share ideas and celebrate their achievements. They had a mass with Bishop John and then attended a variety of workshops to gain new ideas. They even had time to take part in some races and challenges.

Operation Christmas Child
Our Mini-Vinnies have been helping to organise shoe boxes to go to overseas children who will not receive any gifts at Christmas.
This is our first year supporting "Samaritan's Purse" and we have collected 44 boxes. thank-you to all the children who donated presents!
The boxes have now been collected and are off to be delivered for Christmas!
Every Friday playtime our Mini-Vinnies sell toast to the rest of the school to raise money for good causes.
Cornerstones
As a school we decided to support Cornerstones who help the homeless in Manchester. The Mini-Vinnies asked the children to donate toiletries, chocolates and gloves and socks as gifts for the homeless for Christmas. We had an amazing response and two of our Mini-Vinnies took the gifts to Cornerstones and were given a tour of the building. They learned all about the wonderful work they do and what a difference our donations would make.
Thank-you everyone for your support!
Our Mini-Vinnies supported the SVP and gave up their evening to make hampers for the needy at Christmas.
Every week our wonderful Chaplaincy team lead liturgies in all the classes. They do an amazing job giving up their own time to prepare them.
Chaplains meet every week on Friday at 12pm to prepare their weekly liturgies. They then lead liturgies with their designated classes on Wednesday morning.
